Why Time Management
Why is Time Management Important?
Time is perhaps the most precious resource we have on hand. No
matter how much you desire or how much you spend, the fact
remains that once time is lost it cannot be brought back. Time
is totally, irreplaceable, non-repeatable, non-refundable and
inelastic. Those who do not use their time effectively and
efficiently fall out in the race of life and fail to achieve
their goals. It happens quite often with people who lack focus
and purpose in life.
This comes with their failure to realize the importance of time
and if you realize the importance of time then
time management is
indispensable. Time-management is a set of skills, tools, and
systems that help you use your time to accomplish what you
want. But why is it important? Well, there are quite a few
reasons why time- management is important for your personal and
professional success.
Remember, the amount of time each of us gets is limited. For
all of us without any exception, day holds 24 hours or 1440
minutes and it's the same every day without any change. If we
don't use this invaluable resource wisely it will never get
back to us (it never gets back anyways, even if you work
wisely) so, that makes it completely indispensable.
Time is a very special resource. You cannot store it or save
it for the future. You cannot extend the available time to fit
your need. In fact, you have to fit these needs according to
the available time because. No matter how hard you run you
cannot out run time, though you can pace up with it. Most
people feel like they have too much to do but do not have
enough time in hand. Most of the time you blame the 'poor old'
time for not letting you do things you ought to. You make
scarcity of time an excuse for not getting enough exercise,
poor finances, unachieved goals, too much stress, bad
relationships, and even an unfulfilled life. However, you fail
to realize that it is you who lack planning somewhere. Due to
your lack in action and promptness, you lack in effective
time-management.
There are several worthwhile things and feats to be achieved
in life. Looking for free time to do them sometime in future is
like losing a game that almost never results in getting time
for what you want. Time-management is important here as you
need to learn how to take out time for the things that are
important to you. Even if you can only afford to give a small
amount of time each week to your personal goals, you'd be
surprised at the amount of progress you can make. After all,
personal fulfillment enhances productivity. You will be able to
manage your work and time in a better way because the goal of
personal fulfillment will keep you going and motivated to
achieve more and better. Your time-management skills will
always keep you ahead of others. You will never have to be a
meager follower. Instead, you will always be a leader.
Remember, a laggard will always set the lower limit of the pace
of work and a leader will always set an example of the upper
limit of the pace of work. So if you don't want to be a laggard
but a leader, ensure that you manage your time well. Plan,
schedule, organize, prioritize and delegate your work to
achieve high but reasonable standards in effective time
management.
